Viktor weekly brief: brand & competitive analysis

For the Adapt team, August 27, 2026

Scorecard

MetricViktorAdaptNotes
Monthly website visits646K82KViktor gets 8 times the visitors, but the number hasn't moved since June. Adapt's grew 21% in July. Half of Viktor's visitors type the address in. About 30% click an ad.
Share of visitors who arrive from free Google results9%5%Almost nobody finds either company by searching Google. Most of Viktor's search visitors typed "viktor". The most common search that brings people to Adapt is "viktor ai".
Search terms it pays Google to show up for (US)13,810894Viktor pays to show up for searches like "chatgpt alternative", "cowork" and "slack", not for searches about its own category.
Estimated monthly Google Ads spend (US)$176K$903Up from $99K in May. A second tool (Semrush) puts July at $82K. The real number is probably between the two. Neither figure includes banner ads, YouTube or paid social posts.
Different Google searches it shows up in for free (worldwide)662530Both started near zero in May (Viktor 56, Adapt 142).
G2 reviews (average rating)54 (4.9)no listingG2 is the main review site for business software. Viktor added 10 reviews in two weeks. 7 of the 9 written in August complain about the cost of credits in the "dislike" box.
Facebook and Instagram ads running right now2380Every one was launched Aug 24 to 26. Viktor switches its ads off and replaces them constantly, so nothing in its library is more than three days old.
Of those ads, how many are made by creators rather than the company5 of 238n/aFacebook ads are in-house. Paid creators are used on TikTok, Instagram and X instead.
TikTok followers on the company's own account323noneViktor's TikTok reach comes from creators it pays, not its own account: 44 creator videos with 294K plays.
Posts about it on X per day12under 1236 posts in 20 days, but 129 of them landed on Aug 20 and 21, when Viktor launched a new feature. Adapt was mentioned once.
X posts that complain, mention switching, or ask for an alternative4 of 236 (2%)n/aFound by scanning posts for complaint words, Aug 6 to 26. Praise and paid posts far outnumber the complaints.
Reddit posts mentioning it since Jul 2000Searched for both company names exactly. Neither company exists on Reddit.
LinkedIn followers (employees listed on LinkedIn)11,507 (50)2,069 (19)Viktor added 2,900 followers and 10 employees in six weeks.
Open jobs271Viktor: 8 marketing, 5 engineering, 4 sales. Adapt: one salesperson.

Recommended actions for Adapt from the analysis

  1. Make adapt.com/compare/viktor the best page on the internet about Viktor's pricing.

The demand already exists and is aimed at Adapt. "viktor ai" is the search that brings Adapt its most valuable visitors, "viktor alternative" went from zero to 90 searches a month since May, and 7 of 9 August G2 reviews complain about credits. Adapt's page gets two facts wrong, which loses the trust of the people about to switch. Fix it and add a cost calculator that prices five everyday tasks in dollars for both products. It becomes the link people paste whenever someone asks what Viktor really costs. A few days of one person's time. evidence ↓

  2. Buy the searches Viktor isn't buying, and only those.

Viktor's $176K a month bids against OpenAI and Anthropic on "chatgpt alternative" and "cowork". It leaves "viktor alternative", "viktor pricing", "viktor credits" and "slack ai agent" ($11 a click, 320 a month, no winner) untouched. Adapt spends $903 a month, mostly on unrelated terms like "claude cost". Move that budget, add $3 to 5K a month, and Adapt owns the searches people make when leaving Viktor. Do it before the Google Ads lead Viktor posted on Jul 21 starts, because that person will make every category search expensive. evidence ↓

  3. Get listed on G2 and Slack's app directory.

Adapt is on neither. Viktor has 54 G2 reviews, growing by five a week, and a Slack Marketplace listing. Anyone comparing tools in either place cannot find Adapt. Seed a G2 listing with the customers already on Adapt's case-study page. Two weeks of work that keeps paying. evidence ↓

  4. Replicate Viktor's referral program, paid in credits, aimed at developers.

Referrals and paid creators are Viktor's real growth engine. 29% of views on videos about Viktor come from people it pays, and 13 unrelated companies run Google ads for viktor.com just to collect the commission. Adapt has nothing here. adapt.com/affiliates, /referral and /partners all return "page not found". Credits cost Adapt almost nothing to give away. Viktor pays agency owners and office managers. Nobody is paid to talk to developers, and developers are Adapt's buyers. evidence ↓

Traffic and authority

Viktor's visitors: 48% type the address in, 30% click an ad, 9% come from free Google results. Adapt's: 72% type the address in, 5% free Google, 2% ads. Adapt's visitors stay eight minutes and view six pages, meaning they're using the product, not reading marketing. On link strength (a 0-to-100 score of how many reputable sites link to you), Viktor scores 63 and Adapt 34. Both domains date from 2006 and carry old links, so both counts are higher than they should be. Similarweb Similarweb Ahrefs Semrush

When someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini about Viktor, the answers draw on YouTube, viktor.com, a video-game wiki (the League of Legends character) and an unrelated Dutch company at viktor.ai. Semrush counts 49 AI mentions for Viktor and 12 for Adapt, with the same visibility score (14). Adapt's citations come from funding databases and job boards, not product coverage. The brand leaks

"Viktor" is also a League of Legends character, a Dutch engineering firm (viktor.ai) and a language app whose TikToks have 10.8 million plays. Misspellings are 14% of Viktor's free search traffic, and it ranks first for all of them. 13 unrelated companies run Google ads to viktor.com, most likely to earn its referral commission. Adapt has the opposite problem. "adapt" is an ordinary word, and the search that sends Adapt its best visitors is "viktor ai". Semrush Google Ads Transparency Viktor Similarweb

What people say against Viktor

Doubt is showing up in search. People now look for "viktor alternative" (90 a month, none before May) and "viktor com" (checking whether it's real). Viktor's own marketing job ad lists the objections it needs answers for, including "the Slack bot built in a weekend". In March a Hacker News thread on reverse-engineering Viktor hit 181 points before the code was taken down. A TikTok clip says Viktor's default settings let the whole Slack see your Gmail. On X the doubt is quieter, a rival pitching a cheaper alternative and a developer calling the product "meh". Adapt is not named anywhere in Viktor's materials. Actual ad spend isn't public. SpyFu's $176K and Semrush's $82K are estimates that disagree by two to one, and both cover only US Google search. Banners, YouTube, LinkedIn and paid social come on top.
